- mix
- 2 T. yeast
- ½ c. warm water
- mix in
- ½ c. sugar
- 2 t. salt
- ½ c. shortening
- 1 ½ c. shredded squash
- 1 c. milk
- 6 c. flour
- let rise
- bake at 400° until light brown

- mix
- 2 c. flour (some cake flour)
- 1 t. salt
- 2/3 c. shortening
- almost 2/3 c. warm water
- roll out and place in pie pans
- yield: 2-3 shells

baking powder biscuits

- preheat oven to 450º
- cut together until fine crumbs
- 1/4 . shortening
- 2 c. flour
- 1 T. sugar
- 3 t. baking powder
- 1 t. salt
- stir in until dough leaves sides of bowl and rounds into a ball
- 3/4 c. milk (approximately)
- turn dough onto lightly floured surface
- kneed dough
- roll 1/2 inch thick
- cut with biscuit cutter
- place on ungreased cookie sheet, 1 inch apart
- bake 10-12 minutes or until golden brown
- yield: 10 biscuits
- may subsitute all-purpose flour with whole wheat flour

- cook uncovered 10 minutes
- cook another 10 minutes covered

- mix
- 2 T. flour
- 2 T. brown sugar
- 2 T. softened butter
- 1/4 t. cinnamon
- pinch of salt
cake
- preheat oven to 350º
- combine
- 1 1/2 c. flour
- 2/3 c. sugar
- 1/3 c. brown sugar
- 1/2 t. baking soda
- 3/4 t. baking powder
- 1/2-2 t. salt
- 1/4 c. shortening
- 1 t. vanilla
- fill measuring cup with
- 1 egg
- buttermilk
- add buttermilk mixture to dry ingredients
- pour into greased 8×8 inch pan
- sprinkle with topping
- bake for 25-30 minutes

- mix together
- 1/4 c. brown sugar
- 1/4 c. oatmeal
- 1/4 c. coconut
- 1/4 c. pecans
- 2 T. melted butter
oat mixture
- mix and let stand for 3 minutes
- 1 c. oatmeal
- 8 oz. crushed pineapple
- 1/2 c. milk
- 1 egg
- stir in 1/4 c. melted shortening
flour mix
- combine
- 1 c. flour
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/3 c. pecans
- 1 t. salt
- 1 T. baking powder
assembly
- preheat oven to 400º
- mix oat mixture and flour mixture just until moistened
- place batter in muffin pan
- sprinkle topping over tops
- bake 20 minutes

- 3/4 c. sugar
- Blend in
- 1 1/2 c. flour
- Press evenly in bottom of ungreased baking ban
- Bake 12-15 minutes
- Mix
- 2 eggs
- 1 c. brown sugar
- 2 T. flour
- 1/2 t. baking powder
- 1/2 t. salt
- 1/2 t. vanilla
- 1 c. pecans
- spread mix over baked crust
- bake 20 minutes
- yield: 32 cookies
