pretzels

  1. preheat oven to 425°
  2. grease baking sheet
  3. mix
    • 1¼ c. warm water
    • 1 T. yeast
  4. knead in
    • 2 T. sugar
    • 3½-4 c. flour
    • 1½ t. salt
    • 2 T. oil
  5. shape into 24 pretzels and place on prepared baking sheet
  6. brush and sprinkle (optional)
    • milk
    • sea salt
  7. let set 15 minutes
  8. bake 15-20 minutes
  • yield: 24 pretzels

orange poppy muffins

muffins

  1. preheat oven to 400°
  2. mix
    • 2 2/3 c. flour
    • 2 c. sugar
    • 4 T. poppy seeds
    • 1 t. baking soda
    • 1 t. salt
  3. add
    • 2 eggs
    • 1 c. yogurt
    • 2/3 c. melted butter
    • 1/4 c. orange juice
    • 2 T. grated orange peel
  4. mix 30 seconds
  5. place in muffin tin
  6. bake 18 minutes until brown

orange butter

  1. mix
    • ½ c. butter
    • 3 oz. cream cheese
    • ½ c. powdered sugar
    • 2 T. grated orange peel
  • yield: 12 muffins
  • may subsitute yogurt with sour cream
  • may subsitute butter with oil


Crunchy Cabbage Salad
salad
  1. place in bowl
    • 1/2 large head of shredded cabbage
    • 1 can sliced water chestnuts (optional)
    • chopped onions to taste
    • 1/2 c. slivered almonds
    • 1 T. sesame seeds
    • 1/2 c. sunflower seeds

dressing

  1. mix
    • 2 T. sugar
    • 3 T. vinegar
    • 1/2 t. pepper
    • 1/3 c. oil
    • 1 pkg. ramen flavoring

assembly

  1. Top salad with
    • 1 pkg. crushed ramen noodles
  2. Pour dressing over noodles

applesauce fruitcake

  1. preheat oven to 250º
  2. boil 5 minutes, cool
    • 3 c. applesauce
    • 1 c. butter
    • 2 c. sugar
  3. sift together, add to applesauce mix
    • 4 1/2 c. flour
    • 1 t. salt
    • 3 t. baking soda
    • 1 t. nutmeg
    • 1 t. cloves
  4. mix in
    • 1 lb. dates
    • 1 lb. raisins
    • cherries
    • plenty of pecans
    • craisins
  5. bake about 1 hour in small greased loaf pans
  • note: decorate small loaves with cherries and pecans
  • yield: 11 small loaves


oatmeal chocolate chip cake

  1. preheat oven to 350º
  2. mix
    • 1 3/4 c. boiling water
    • 1 c. oatmeal
    • 1 c. brown sugar
    • 1/2 c. butter
    • 1 T. cocoa
    • 1 c. sugar
  3. mix in
    • 2 eggs
    • 1 3/4 c. flour
    • 1 t. baking soda
    • 1/2 t. salt
    • 3/4 c. walnuts
    • 12 oz. chocolate chips
  4. bake 40 minutes
